Gangaur festival :

This festivals is dedicated to the goddess Parvati ( also known as Gauri ) the consort of lord Shiva. The festivals is held for a period of fifteen days following  Holi and is mainly celebrated by women. Married women invoke her blessings for maternal happiness while unmarried girls pray to her, to be granted ideal husband. Colourful wooden images of goddess are worship in each home. The procession of the wooden image of Gauri (Parvati) is taken through the streets of Jodhpur. At night ladies apply Mehandi to their palms and soles as an indication of their Suhaag

 
 

Nag Panchami :

As the name says itself that it is a festival of snakes. The snake charmers form the whole area gather and their cobras are being worshipped here. This fair is held on Bhadrapada Budi Panchami (Aug.-Sept.) of every year at Mandore. This fair is attended by over one lakh people from all around Jodhpur district . 

Veerpuri Ka Mela :

This fair is held on the last Monday of Shravan (July-Aug.), celebrated in the memory of the heroes of rajasthan whose images are installed , guarded by an images of lord Ganesh and on either side are the two sons of the god of war, Bhairav.

 
 

Marwar festival :

A two day extravaganza rejoicing in the glory of the desert kingdom, the Marwar festival is a multi-venue-event celebration. The festivals strives to capture the vitality of the Marwari peoples. The celebration ends with the fabulous fire dance on the sand of  Osian

Kite festival :

Makar Sankranti is one of the very few Indian festivals that has a solar association and, therefore, follows the Gregorian calendar. It is a day when kites are flown in many parts of India and on the 14th of January this year, the spectacular Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, the last regal palace to be built in India, was the scene of the culmination of the 2nd International Desert Kite Festival.

75 fliers from 7 countries, including India, participated in this colourful spectacle organised by Ajay Prakash of Nomad Travels, Mumbai.

The Festival stared on 12 January on the huge Polo Ground and was inaugurated by Mah. Gaj Singh of Jodhpur who is also Chairman of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. The Chief Guest, General P.S. Joshi (G.O.C in C Jodhpur) unfurled the Festival flag, the Mehrangarh band struck up a lively tune, an Air Force helicopter dropped kites from the sky, schoolchildren released hundreds of coloured balloons which met the kites on their way down - and the Festival was on !

Watched by many excited children, George Peters and Melanie Walker from USA started to set up their "wind garden," a veritable riot of colour and striking shapes.
